Over 300 guests packed Menorah Synagogue for the induction by Rabbi Sybil Sheridan of Fabian Sborovsky.
Chairman Howard Barlow welcomed the attendees and related how Rabbi Sborovsky first visited Menorah last September, explaining: “It was quite apparent that here was someone special. We couldn’t let this one slip away!”
During the event, greetings were brought from the European Union of Progressive Judaism by its vice chairman, Michael Reik, and Sue Pearlman presented a gift from the Movement of Reform Judaism.
The success of the day was attributed to the efforts of the synagogue’s members, led by Gita Conn, assisted by Keren Chamberlain, and the ceremony concluded with afternoon tea prepared by member volunteers Melissa Dorfman, Kerry Barlow and their team of helpers.
