Mitzvah Day 365 Returns

Mitzvah Day 365 is back on Sunday 22nd November from 10am.


Mitzvah Day Leeds (22nd November, so just a few days to go) has something for everyone. Whether you’d like to donate 10 minutes or a few hours, there’s a mitzvah you can do,’ said Sara Saunders, Mitzvah Day’s Leeds leader. ‘As the Mitzvah Day website says, Mitzvah Day is a catalyst in building local communities to take part in collective, hands-on social action projects which make a real difference to local issues regardless of age, faith, affiliation, gender or socio-economic position. .’

Find out about becoming a befriender – register now with Sara ( to test out your skills on Mitzvah Day and assist in the preparations for the Mitzvah Day Brunch.
Join Burton House (Lady Park Court) at their afternoon tea and singalong from 12pm – 4pm. Again, please register with Sara (, or register with her to collect for the Leeds North Food bank.

-TOILETRIES: shampoo, bubble bath, shower gel, deodorant, tooth brushes, tooth paste, sanitary towels, soap…
-CHILDRENS TOYS: For the under 10s
-UNDERWEAR: Men’s socks size 7-11, vests and pants (small and medium)
-CHILDREN’S ARTS & CRAFTS for : Colouring/activity books, stickers, crayons/colouring pens, tubs of play dough, gift bags
-NON-PERISHABLE GOODS for the Food Bank:  cereal, jam/spreads, tins (fish, beans, veg, soup, fruit), pasta/spaghetti, rice, flour, lentils, UHT milk, skimmed milk powder, dried fruit, herbs, sauce, tea/coffee…

-KNITTED 6 INCH SQUARES:  33-35 stitches per row on 4mm needles using double knit yarn.


Collection points are at Sinai Synagogue (Monday-Wednesday and Friday 10.00am-1.00 pm), The MAZCC and The Zone.’


Sinai Synagogue’s Assistant Rabbi Esther Hugenholtz said, ‘It’s wonderful that we’re all working together, in whatever way we can, to support PAFRAS (Positive Action For Refugees and Asylum Seekers), Palm Cove (providing emergency accommodation for some asylum seekers, refugees, migrants and minority ethnic people), the Calais Appeal, LGI Hospital (terminally sick children) and the Leeds North Food Bank.
