Bury Grammar Schools have a long and rich history of excellence dating back to the 1570s. We are proud of being both a traditional and forward-looking family of schools which celebrates successes, nurtures individual talents and places our pupils at the heart of everything we do. The highest standards in academic provision, extra-curricular activities and pastoral care are the norm: in short, a BGS education gives our pupils the edge and enables them to shine.
The BGS journey begins in our coeducational pre-school from three years of age. The journey continues to our coeducational Infant school and then single sex education in our Junior and Senior Schools. It culminates in our high-performing coeducational Sixth Form.
The benefits of belonging to a relatively small school where each pupil is well known and able to flourish, while also being a part of the whole BGS family of schools offering an impressive range of opportunities, is one of the keys to Bury Grammar pupils’ consistent success. And as our pupils move up the School, they can be sure that they will be benefiting from the same aspirational educational philosophy throughout their years at BGS.
Our vibrant and rigorous curriculum – both inside and outside the classroom – is designed to engage and challenge our pupils whilst fostering intellectual curiosity and a love of learning. This approach translates into impressive academic performances and means that our pupils leave BGS well-prepared for successful and happy lives beyond school. This is evidenced by our recent excellent ISI Inspection Reports of 2014 and 2016.
