UHC Cougars were victorious at the 2020 edition of the Intra-communal Five-a-side Football Tournament.

This year’s BigChange sponsored Intra-communal Five-a-side Football Tournament was played in honour of Elliot Bransby, who passed away last month at the age of 30. The presentation of awards included celebrating the tournament’s best goalkeepers in his honour and Elliot’s parents, Donna and David Bransby presented the awards, sponsored by Giant Insurance to golden-gloved GKs Gavin Miller and Harry Baum.

UHC Cougars finally scooped the top prize, the BigChange trophy, in a thrilling final, concluding the 11th annual tournament and ending their three-year run of losing to rivals BHH Hawks. Taking place at The Grammar School at Leeds, Leeds United former player and manager Eddie Gray was in attendance, as was Leeds-based Premier League referee Martin Atkinson to dish out the awards following the matches. Special guest openers were Stephanie and Richard Bentley.

David Bransby and Daniel Kaufman have co-organised the tournament together for over a decade, and this year’s total was a fitting tribute, raising just over £7,000 for charity, beating previous year’s totals. Daniel told JLife: “Now into its second decade, this tournament was once again a great success bringing the community together at the same time as raising money for two worthy causes.”
