What’s on in Manchester this February?

As the days are getting longer, there’s more time to have some post-winter fun! JLife has picked out a few highlights to give you a taste of what you can expect this month near you.


We Got Annie!
The favourite family musical, Annie, has taken to the stage at Manchester Opera House for a two week run until 16th February 2019. Sing-along to the popular musical theatre hits including its The Hard-Knock Life, I Don’t Need Anything But You and Tomorrow whilst sitting on the edge of your seat as Miss Hannigan intervenes with her evil schemes.


Happy New Year!
Immerse yourself in the colourful cultural highlight, as Manchester’s city centre celebrates Chinese New Year over four days of exciting festivities. Decked out in full splendour, catch a glimpse of the golden dragon in Exchange Square (7th–10th February), spot thousands of red lanterns in the city’s trees and follow the legendary dragon parade to the firework finale (10th February).


Half-Term Happenings
Keep the kids entertained this half term at Manchester’s waterfront destination, Salford Quays, with a whole host of activities taking place, ideal for children of all ages. Browse the Lowry Outlet Makers Market packed with food, drink and crafts (23rd – 24th February 2019), welcome wildlife into your garden at Ordsall Hall’s Bird Houses and Bug Homes workshop (8th and 20th February 2019) and laugh your socks off at the Billionaire Boy musical at The Lowry (14th – 17th February).

To mark the arrival of the most romantic day of the year, The Village Screen pop-up cinema is returning to Victoria Baths to inject some Valentine’s magic 15th–16th February 2019. Whet your appetite with delicious street food and a fully stocked bar, serenade your beloved and cosy for a classic movie.


Bust a Move
Dance enthusiasts in Manchester can rejoice as legendary DJ, Fatboy slim, dominates the dancefloor at Manchester Arena on 28th February 2019. Fans can expect to groove along at his live show to classic tracks including Right Here Right Now, Praise You and Eat Sleep Rave Repeat.
